Sunday Call to Worship: Our Judge is Our Savior

The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.—from Paul’s sermon to the philosophers of Athens, Acts 17:30-31

God displays His great patience by delaying the judgement our sins deserve. Yet, He is just, and will finally judge the world in righteousness. He has committed that day of judgment to Jesus whom He raised from the dead, and before whom we will bow.

Until that day, God proclaims the good news of His mercy: Repent and believe Jesus whom I have raised from the dead.

Let us worship the God of all patience, mercy and pardon. He does not punish us as our sins deserve.

Let us join together with grateful hearts for the mercy God grants us in Christ Jesus who willingly bore the penalty we deserved.
